CLAIRE HEFFER DESIGN: WORK IN PROGRESS
Now I don’t know about you but this lockdown, although a great excuse to complete all those projects I’ve had sitting in my to-do list, has left me feeling a little unmotivated. Maybe it’s the fact that we don’t know how long it’s going to last that makes me feel that way? It could be the weeks or months of being inside with no end in sight that’s making me put things off?
So I’m sharing with you a few projects that I’m currently working on – that way I have some responsibility to get things finished. But also, I get to share with you some work and hopefully get some feedback.
I worked with paints and pen and ink and collage to create some new things – and experimenting is so much fun once you get all your tools out and really get into it.
I had been collecting images from magazines for many years – I used to read fashion magazines religiously even though they were quite expensive to buy and then kept them for years before tearing out my favourite and most interesting images and keeping them. The problem for me was that I knew I should use them to make collages it’s just when you have a stack of images that you enjoy looking at for so long it’s hard to commit them to one piece by sticking them down and then they’re in that piece forever. I know it’s silly but because of this reason collaging was always very hard for me to commit to.
But I made some eventually and I hope you enjoy them. My most favourite pieces are the ones that incorporate all of the medias, collage, paint and drawing. I also really enjoyed the effect of drawing on top of the paintings with my new Uni Posca pens. The effect is really interesting, and I hope to make some more of these in the future
