FOCUS ON: BOOKCASES
FOCUS ON: BOOKCASES
Now if you researched styling bookcases (as I have done quite a lot) then you’ll know that with my bookcase (above) I’m breaking all the rules there are. It is a work in progress but for the most part I’m always going to break the bookcase styling rules and do you know why? Because my bookcase is FULL OF BOOKS. Bookcase styling would suggest that you be selective with your books to avoid it looking like a library but I’ll be honest, the library look is exactly what I’m going for, So you’ll see that a lot of the bookcases I’ve chosen to feature in this collection of inspirational images are chock full of books and not the overly styled style of bookcase. Although I think they all look beautiful and have many ideas you could take away from them whatever bookcase you are looking to create.
Some of the best tips from these inspirational bookcase images;
· Frame a doorway with a bookcase
· Arrange books by colour
· Paint your bookcases a bold colour
· Split your books up with ceramics, jars and vases
· Line the bottom of your walls with a low bookcase
· Set your bookcase into the wall
· Display your books on shelves
· Order your books by size
· Reach high shelves with a library ladder
· Fill the space under the stairs with bookcases
· Hide a secret room behind a bookcase door
· Cover your books so they all look the same
I’ve included some bookcases on a more epic scale with some of the most beautiful libraries in the world. If you’ve got a mansion size library, you might get some inspiration there.
Following that; for times when we can travel and shop again and for those who want some virtual wanderlust explore some of the best bookshops from around the world.
For more attainable inspiration following the more grander scales I’ve compiled a collection of some of the best accessories and bookcases you can find online to make your bookcase dreams a reality.
And last but not least find a curated list of prints and accoutrements for your library space or excellent gifts for your book-loving friends and family.
